Hareless chaser:
groom rabbit chest
case ivory moon (with toothbrush)
Dusky grasswren:
flanks the heart of carparks
(mouse-‐like) spooks air born harbinger
Dangerous trade:
putting a head
into a mouth (incisor)
Sunset solo:
park near sky. open jaw wide.
swallow. (fly)
Noisy miners:
(winging) bad commerce, draw
nectar from the black damp
Above all else:
jump away awkwardly
into the death
(kiss)

About David Stavanger
David Stavanger’s poetry has been published in various Australian and international magazines, newspapers and anthologies. He has released two books of poetry (one inconsistently raw; the other consistent but forced at times). The best is yet to come. Known for his unique live performance he has featured at various festivals as well as completing a spoken word mentoring tour of the USA, funded by Arts QLD. David is also the co-founder of QLD poetry imprint Small Change Press; poetry event programmer for The State Library of QLD and Woodford Folk Festival; and the QLD Coordinator of Australian Poetry.
