Melody Ellis

Melody Ellis is writer and academic based in Melbourne. She completed her undergraduate studies in fine art at Sydney College of the Arts, and a doctorate in creative writing at RMIT University where she now teaches creative writing and literary theory. Melody’s writing—including short fiction, experimental memoir and fictocritical essays—explores an interest in subjectivity, the body, power, and ethics. .

For a long time after my daughter was born, I looked for representations of motherhood everywhere. I looked for it in casual interactions with other mothers in the park and on the street, I looked for it with friends, in mothers’ groups and on the screen.
