Soi athuka rwchabtwi

Muktrui Khorang ani rewchabmungo pungw.

Montrirog khomota tai rang ri ni ohongkar

Khorogo Sorwi natwi

Muktrui ani khorogo rangchakni motok, Ang Raja

Ang himwi thangw hachuk lamatwi

Lama kwbai kesep bolong hokjakya

Lamatwi khaichigwi thangw bolong borok

Watwirai lailangkha, khwnaphilangkha –

Bolongborok bai bujagwi thuikha sabo khoroksa,

Sipairogbai kokjagwi thuika sabo khoroksani bwsala

Bolongbai sipai koklaima kwcharo kwlaywi thuikha

Chini bank ni kastomar khoroksa–

Sal kisa swkang kaijagmani, kok sakrak!

Malaikhe-no ‘Sir, boro thang’ hinwi swng swngw.

Ang puila phaiching bini kok yachakphanw

Ulo nugwi- bo kok saya siring siring laywi thangw.

Ang boro thang bono tamoni sathai?

Ang boro thang ang busuk jora si

Ang kubui kubui thangwi de tong eba khorogo thupjak

Motok bai chwngsarwi tongw lama

Jotto ani muktrui siw.

Muktrui ani langma!


Ani o muktrui babu chajakya

Ama chajakya, nokni borok jolijagw

Phiya baksa le muktrui tai ano naichomwi

Tepsa konorwi thangw lukuni tero

Tokla tanlaima phunugwi rang thumteo,

Athukiri ganao thangwi mwnwyw pal manya

Chandrakanta Murasingh was born in Twiwandal, Tripura, in 1957. He is one of the most respected poets in Tripura and has published six collections of poetry and his works have appeared in reputed journals and anthologies. He has won a number of awards including the Bhasha Samman from Sahitya Akademi in 1996 and the Rabindra Puraskar, the highest literary award of Tripura. He works in a bank and lives in Agartala.

Saroj Chaudhury is an eminent poet, academician and scholar, who has worked on the intrinsic problems faced by translators in rendering into different languages, particularly English, the tribal folktales particularly when it comes to rendering the expressions peculiar to the tribal people, and suggested some ways of remedying them. Chaudhury has taught at several universities, including Delhi University as an associate professor, as well as at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Aichi Gakusen University, both in Japan. He is known for his study of the Japanese language and other East Asian languages and cultures. He has worked on a translation of the Threefold Lotus Sutra into Bengali.
