Poem for heryou barely descended
from the bus
with blue lines painted underneath
and our souls
disrobed of flesh
held hands
and soared light-struck
you thought I could fly
but I couldn’t
I thought you could fly
but you couldn’t
only then we understood and we returned
to the skins we’d left behind
carefully stretched by the head nurse
to avoid any creases
in the hospital it was already Sunday
each time you arrive
I want to hide you
so you could never find yourself
but each time nostalgia
caught up with you
and you returned to your old flesh
and left without knowing
I’d be left behind in the darkness
I’d go blind
and you’d feel sorry for me
if you saw me
counting each second of the night
between the two buses on the road
on the radio there is an intense debate
about the upheaval of train wheels
in the wagon junkyard
hidden among pens pencils
dry walnut tree leaves
and two accordions
ascunse printre stilouri creioane
frunze uscate de nuc
și două acordeoane
