OZ LINGUAL

From asylum seeker TEST to As-Salamu Alaykum/Job seeker playbook,
I fled borders,
Dodging lines like handballs in motion,
NEVER crossing corners.
Changing tongues like jumper swaps,
but the pain won’t leave my soul pieces.

I searched for peace = under the knee,
to World Vision shelter.
Turning ‘Alaykum’ into action,
serving (my) people community and culture.

My dad built boats, try surviving tackles on stormy seas.
And My mum’s name’s Nemo!
navigating evenings nights with her healing Somali shaah teas.
Like a footy bounced on new soil, the Australian Dream.
Kangaroo jumping in silence, skipping in struggle,
hoping to stay alive.

Words travel like refugees, no passport: just like root seed.
Toto’s Africa blessings, the rains down on famine place.
‘Is it true … ?!’ There’s Gen Y, Gen Z, and the blood rule generations.
So the real question is! Who do you cheer for, and who STANDS next to you After the game?
So heed my promise, Kenya: I’ll bring a footy, Can ya do it! but a chance to pass hope = one AUSkick at a time.
