I listen to the misty rain, a stream of fog,
delighting me behind the windshield.
I listen to a hemp seedling from Chefchaouen,
a poppy flower from Shiraz,
a mushroom from the Amazon rainforest,
and cola leaves from Peru.

I listen to the dappling rain flow in lines,
delighting me behind the windshield.
I receive the flutter of wings from vibrant willows,
hares flashing past like lightning
and diving into the unknown.

A black bird.
A song for the lost.
Amen!
