Paradise II: Beetles

It’s times like these I’m glad I don’t understand Samoan
God knows what the faifeau is saying
Pogisa – darkness
Fefe – fear
Kirisimasi – Xmas
Words that fly around with the sharpest wings
Wings so sharp, you can pull them off and use the edges to strip panadanus
(imagine panadanus like strips of flesh, muscle maybe, something that holds together)
Divide it
And divide it into the finest shreds and then weave it back together in any order
Fasi oki – kill
Solasola – escape
Kalofae – poor thing
Kirisimasi – xmas.

Yes, the beetle is dead now
So many of us are now
Yes, it is an escape
Yes, it is a poor thing
And yes, it is Xmas in Paradise
