Dreaming of Dead Horses

By | 24 July 2007

You think you have suffered
then a girl you know
her mother she says
had fifty years hard drinking
now
she hears phones ring
in loaves of bread
the woman in the next room
(a world champion wrestler)
is employed by the Russians
the cleaner's in ASIO
people
live
in her wardrobe
(“Just like in Narnia!”
her daughter laughs)
and when she goes out at night
to check on the place
all down the hallway
dead horses
are lying.
