An American influencer has drawn criticism from cherub welfare advocates after posting footage of herself capturing a wild cherub & holding it for the camera. Self-described as an ‘empyrean biologist & celestial scientist’, she shared the video in a since-deleted Instagram reel. It shows her catching the cherub on the side of an unidentified road & carrying it to a car, while a man laughs as he films. Another angel that the pair identifies as the cherub’s mother is seen chasing after them & hanging around the car while the cherub hisses & screeches. The filming cuts out before it is known whether the angels are reunited. The influencer was contacted for comment via Instagram; however, she did not respond. Many users on social media have said they have reported the influencer to the Federal Department of Celestial Beings & Wellbeing (DCBW). A department representative said that under the Cosmic Being Protection Act 1989, it is illegal to harm or take any native cherubs in Australia. As a reminder to the public, she says, ‘There is no need to interact with them in that way. It is a beautiful experience to just watch our cherubs in the wild’……………
