Saroj Chaudhury

Saroj Chaudhury is an eminent poet, academician and scholar, who has worked on the intrinsic problems faced by translators in rendering into different languages, particularly English, the tribal folktales particularly when it comes to rendering the expressions peculiar to the tribal people, and suggested some ways of remedying them. Chaudhury has taught at several universities, including Delhi University as an associate professor, as well as at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Aichi Gakusen University, both in Japan. He is known for his study of the Japanese language and other East Asian languages and cultures. He has worked on a translation of the Threefold Lotus Sutra into Bengali.
