Mitchell Welch

Mitchell Welch has lived in Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Hobart, working as a public servant, cemetery administrator, and senior communications advisor. He currently lives and writes near the confluence of the Logan (Dugulumba) and Albert Rivers south of Brisbane. His work has been published in a range of journals and anthologies, including Antipodes, Arena, Australian Poetry Journal, The Best of Australian Poems, Cordite, Meanjin, Medical Journal of Australia, Overland, Rabbit, Short Fiction, Social Alternatives, Southerly and TEXT. His first book, Vehicular Man – described by Dominique Hecq as ‘a poetic universe full of provocation, seeings-into and ludic energy’ – was published as part of the Rabbit Poets Series, and was shortlisted for the Judith Wright Calanthe Award for a Poetry Collection at the 2024 Queensland Literary Awards.
