Marcelle Freiman

Marcelle Freiman lives on Gadigal land, Sydney. She was born in South Africa in 1951 and migrated to the UK in 1977, then to Australia in 1981. Her current poetry project is a verse memoir of her family’s and her own history during the apartheid years in South Africa. Her third and most recent book is Spirit Level (Puncher & Wattman 2021), and her poetry has appeared in Antipodes, Axon, AP Journal, AP Anthology, Cordite, Mascara Literary Review, Meanjin, Meniscus, Newcastle Poetry Prize Anthology, StylusLit, TEXT and Westerly, amongst others. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at Macquarie University.
