Mali Harkin-Noack

Mali Harkin-Noack (she/her) is an emerging Narungga poet playwright based in Kaurna Yarta. Her writing has been featured in Cordite Poetry Review and Splinter Journal. Through Carclew, City Of Adelaide, and CreateSA, she has written 2 plays with her writing mentor, Nathan Troisi, one of which has been accepted into the 2026 inSPACE Program and will be featured in OUR MOB 2026. She has received further funding to develop a verbatim play in for 2026. Her repertoire includes essays, plays, short stories, and poetry. She has collaborated with spaces across South Australia including the Riverland Youth Theatre, ActNow, and The Mill.

The Algae Will Stay Another Day

I’m staring up at this precious night sky and I wish on a shooting star that the algal bloom will go away. When I look a little harder, I see it’s not a shooting star, but one of Musk’s Starlink Satellites.
