Porch Haiku

By and | 5 December 2019

On the porch—
the streetlamps come on,
we keep grumbling.

On the porch—
we speak long-distance, I think,
for the last time.

On the porch
we tell each other
dirty jokes.

On the porch
a fly alights a tea cup—
neither of us move.

On the porch,
hot, humid August—
a new war begins.
