Raqiya Ahmed

Raqiya Ahmed is a writer and artist based on Dharug Country. She was a finalist for the SBS Emerging Writers' Competition for her essay 'Pantski: A Projection of my Double-Consciousness' (2021) and a highly commended applicant for the All About Women of Colour mentorship program between Sweatshop and the Sydney Opera House for a short piece of fiction titled 'Until Now, the Sugarcanes Rustle' (2022). Raqiya was a recipient of the Next Chapter Fellowship program (2023-24) to complete her debut novel, which she hopes to soon publish. Her artworks have been displayed at Yarilla Arts, AIRspace Projects, Gallery 76, Campbelltown Arts Centre, and Jacky Winter Gallery.
