Rachel Hennessy

Rachel Hennessy is is the award-winning Australian author of two novels: The Quakers (Wakefield Press, 2008) and The Heaven I Swallowed (Wakefield Press, 2013). She writes contemporary fiction and non-fiction for adults, as well as occasional poetry. Her poem ‘Trigger Warning’ won the 2017 Nillumbik Ekphrasis Award. In 2019 her first Young Adult work, River Stone, will be published by MidnightSun. She teaches creative writing at the University of Melbourne including a course on the relationship between critical theory and creativity which inspired ‘after reading Laurent Binet’s The 7th Function of Language’.
