Peta Clancy

Dr Peta Clancy is a descendant of the Yorta Yorta people. She lives and works in Naarm on Wurundjeri Country. Peta is a researcher in the Wominjeka Djeembana Indigenous practice-based research Lab at MADA (Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture), Monash University. Clancy's art practice is premised on in-depth depictions of Country developed in collaboration with community. She creates large-scale photo installations delving into sites of trauma and erasure to explore Country and the diverse perspectives and histories. Peta has exhibited her artwork at the Art Gallery of NSW (2019), National Gallery of Victoria (2023), and in 2024 at the Van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands. Clancy's artwork is held in significant collections in Australia and internationally including TarraWarra Museum of Art; MUMA; National Gallery of Victoria; Artbank; Parliament House Australia; and the Centre for Creative Photography, The University of Arizona, US. Peta is Associate Dean Indigenous and Senior Lecturer at MADA, Monash University. She is represented by Dominik Mersch Gallery in Australia.
