Karen Lowry

Karen Lowry writes confronting, experimental poetry. Her debut collection, This Fragile Thing (September 2026), is a vulnerable poetic memoir about surviving childhood sexual abuse. Using her experience as a graphic designer, Karen creates disruptive books and is known for her poetic collages. Her intimate poems, personal essays, and flash fiction have been published in WritingWA's the little journal, multiple Australian Poetry Journal issues and Black Inc's Growing Up in Country Australia. She has been shortlisted for the QUT digital literature award and the new media writing prize. Karen has a PhD from Curtin University where she currently teaches.
