Helen Latukefu

Helen Latukefu is a Tongan-Australian spoken-word poet, water scientist, and former Miss Earth Australia 2023. In 2018, she won the Australian Poetry Slam Youth Championship and went on to perform at the Sydney Opera House. Raised in Western Sydney, Helen seamlessly bridges cultural storytelling with her environmental influences. She works professionally as a Water Quality Analyst for Sydney Water where she dedicates her career to public health, ecology, and water literacy. Helen is an active member of Tagata Moana Writers, NSW’s only active Pacific-led writing group, where she has been spotlighted as a performer. Her creativity has extended to acting, marked by her debut and lead role as Charlotte in the Tongan short film Puletaha, which has officially been selected to screen at the Pasifika Film Fest.
