Fale Tumanu

Fale Tumanu is a Sāmoan writer, storyteller, and emerging artist based on Dharawal lands. Her practice is grounded in the expression of voice through writing, poetry, and performance, drawing heavily on lived experience, cultural memory, and preservation. Fale's work centres Pacific narratives and amplifies marginalised voices, bringing this same dedicated approach to facilitating space within the pan-Pacific Tagata Moana Writers collective, which she co-founded in 2024 and helped lead to a finalist nomination for the 2026 Pasifika Awards. Her versatile practice spans performance, literary development, and community arts. Recent credits include performing Tautua: A Journey at the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct and developing 8 Ways to Survive the Corporate Circus via Brand X’s "The Flying Nun" residency. Additionally, she was selected for the 2026 Writing NSW Cultivate Mentorship Program and serves as one of the project leads for CuriousWorks’ HOLDING SPACE 2026: Rituals of Reciprocity - Land and Water programme.

Among them are Helen Latukefu, a Tongan-Australian scientist, beauty pageant winner and actress, and South Sudanese sisters Atoc and Amuor Malou, who work across social work, publishing, modelling and performance. Their professional lives may take them in very different directions, but poetry gives them a shared language: one they use to experiment, perform, tell stories, and carve out space for themselves in Western Sydney’s creative landscape.
