Caitlin McGregor

Caitlin McGregor is an artist, writer, editor, parent, and gardener based in Maldon, on unceded Dja Dja Wurrung Country. Their writing can be found in a range of magazines and literary journals, including Meanjin, Sydney Review of Books, Kill Your Darlings and Overland, as well as in the recent nonfiction anthology Someone Like Me (UQP 2025). As an artist, Caitlin's work spans drawing, painting, and needle felting, and they have a particular interest in the relationships between word and image. Their illustrated essay 'Hungry Little DisHuman Beings' was the inaugural winner of the KYD Creative Nonfiction Essay Prize in 2022, and in 2023 Caitlin was the illustrator for the debut issue of poetry journal Sunder. Their needle-felted comic 'Just felt it' was exhibited at Pink Ember Studio as part of Comics Off The Page in 2025. Caitlin is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, where they won the 2025 Miranda Jane Hughes scholarship for their research on creativecritical writing as mad methodology.
