This pub is mumbling something under its breath and I can’t hear it

What finds you sexy like a darkened room
Like welcome ambience designed from
orange wine and candle flame
Asserts itself to me as mostly
Sharp Wooden Corners
Tonight is one big chance
to stub my toe

I want to buy you a drink
without needing you there
Want to go on a date
without bruising us both
en route to my chair

It is embarrassing how much I want that
Embarrassing you have to walk me
to the bathroom like a child
To have you wait outside the door

You picked this table by the window
You tell me whereabouts my beer is
in relation to my hand
I wonder whereabouts the self is
in relation to the body
If I could be the one to finally separate the two
For the moment, I am hoping
that you would enjoy my company
even with your eyes closed

The echo of a tram light on your face
reveals to me that you are smiling
You are smiling, the tram passes
and it’s gone.
