You are invited to accept, refuse, or otherwise participate in CONDITIONS.

By doing so, you acknowledge that you are bound by CONDITIONS irrespective of whether you have read or understood them.

What CONDITIONS are placed upon an action, an expression, a relationship, a career, a body, a belief, a disorder, a family, a payment, a promise, a poem? What happens when CONDITIONS cannot be met? What happens when they can be met?

What CONDITIONS produce poetry? Who defines them?

Under such CONDITIONS, we are concerned with the circumstances, terms, agreements, through which something becomes possible, permissible, necessary, or unavoidable in poetry.

You may accept, dispute, or decline these CONDITIONS. However, regardless of whether you accept, dispute, or decline them, you remain subject to these CONDITIONS.

Whatever the CONDITIONS, the work must contain something that exceeds compliance — something alive, something difficult, something that arrives under pressure and remains — after the terms have been forgotten.

By submitting, you acknowledge these CONDITIONS.

This podcast sheds some insight on how Cordite Poetry Review (and Cordite Books) works.

Submission to Cordite 123: CONDITIONS closes 11.59pm Melbourne time 13 December 2026.
