Annette Willis has been a full time visual artist since 2002. Her photography has gained finalist places and honourable mentions in Australian and international photography awards including the Black & White Spider Awards (2007, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015); the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women in Photography (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015); Prix de la Photographie PX3 (2012, 2015); International Loupe Awards (2013); International Monochrome Awards (2014); US Mobile Photography Awards (2013); the US Color Masters Cup (2013, 2014, 2015); the B&W Charles Dodgson Award (2014); NYC4PA (2013, 2015) and the SALA Festival Awards (2014). She has been a finalist in many Australian and international portraiture prizes including Head On (2006, 2012); Olive Cotton (2005, 2007, 2008); the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize (2010); Sydney Life: Art and About (2006) and the London Photographic Association Portraiture Prize (2007, 2014). In 2006 she won the Wollongong Portraiture Prize. She’s had twelve solo exhibitions at galleries around Australia and has had work shown in London, New York and at both the 3rd and 4th International Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography (Malaga, Spain 2014; Berlin, 2016).
