My first solo travels overseas in my 20s included cross-country USA. Seven of us cramped in our American friend’s small car, on the road from Phoenix, Arizona to the Grand Canyon. I recall the heat, long stretches of land with monster cacti. I have an affection for cacti, yet they are pricks too!

Maxxi Minaxi May is a multidisciplinary artist who works with sculpture, mixed-media, printmaking, and installation. She remixes the Anthropocene/Symbiocene through interrelationships between the industrial and the everyday, the environment, representation, consumerism, and popular culture. Colour, play, humour, repetition, objects, craft, design, and juxtaposition are often seen in her works.
