About Matt Hetherington


Matt Hetherington lives in Thornbury, Melbourne, and is a writer, editor, teacher, and musician. His first collection of poetry was Surface (2004), followed by a chapbook called sweeping the dust: indian haiku & senryu (2005), both published through PRECIOUS PRESS. His most recent poetry collection is I Think We Have (Small Change Press). Matt has translated works from Spanish, French, and Turkish (the poetry of Hidayet Ceylan in bulayt bulayt: poetry in four languages, World Poetry, 2006). In 2006, he was co-editor of Straight from the Tank, a documentary film featuring over 60 poetry performances in Melbourne from 2003-2005. (Red Lobster). In 2005, Matt was a founding member (along with Myron Lysenko and Leanne Hills) of rookuTroupe, who were the initial editors of the rooku component of the Moving Galleries Project. As well as being a member of the project Vetting Panel, he is also on the Moving Galleries Advisory Board, and the board of the Australian Haiku Society.
