The Bank of Victoria

27 March 2003

A picture of Victoria StantonVictoria Stanton is a Montreal-based performer, spoken word historian and CEO. She co-wrote (with Vincent Tinguely) Impure, a history of the Montreal spoken word scene; and her poetry has also been anthologised in Short Fuse, the global anthology of fusion poetry.

It is with great pleasure that Cordite announces two special events in the life of this beguiling chanteuse. The first is the official opening of Victoria's eponymous banking empire, The Bank of Victoria. Check out the site for details of the bank's services, clients and projects.

Secondly, following a whirlwind tour of Japan, where her performance(s) will be featured in an exhibition, Victoria will be visiting Melbourne and will be performing at Babble (Bar Open – Brunswick Street Fitzroy) on April 9 at 9pm.

It seems oddly appropriate that the Bank of Victoria should be so interested in its, erm, Victorian clientele. Come along for some good old fashioned performance from Ms Stanton, a musical act (Tamas Wells) and the infamous Babble Open Mike section. Entry is a trivial $4. See you there!
