Those of you itching to get your mitts on former Smashing Pumpkins' frontman Billy Corgan's debut book of poetry may have to wait just a little longer. In pursuit of a review copy, we emailed the Chicago Poetry Centre, where Corgan gave a reading earlier this month. They kindly replied:
'Billy Corgan's book has yet to be published. The only officially published poem he has is A Twixt the Twine, which was published as a broadside by The Poetry Center.
He thinks the book will be done December 2004 and its release will coincide with his first solo release. '
So that's a shame. In the meantime, however, we encourage you to download and listen to mp3s of Corgan reading his own work. Hmm.
The Chicago reading has already garnered a scathing review, which has, in turn, triggered heartfelt rebuttals. But Corgan seems ambivalent in his desire for the warm embrace of other poets. In a recent interview about his own poetic aspirations, he says, 'The poetry world is full of a lot of guys with beards and stuff. I'm afraid of beards. I don't want to be with the bearded people'.
So, it's decided, then: we're changing our name to 'Corgan Poetry Review', and now we're all growing beards, too. Sweet.

I?m not a fan of Billy. Sometimes I almost feel bad even craving his e-mail address just to ask him a bunch of unwanted obnoxious questions, but who knows? Maybe they aren?t obnoxious, but surely unwanted sry
:Like I said, I?m not a fan. Billy and James are the only reasons I picked my first guitar up.
P.S. Good luck Billy, I hope you shine on as much people as you did when you had depressed them.

Billy corgan is my hero, and I would marry him in a heart beat. For anyone that has never listened to him sing, they have missed hearing an angel. If it wasn?t for Billy Corgan I wouldn?t be who I am today. I love you Billy, and no matter what anyone thinks I?ll always be your number one fan.

I know Billy?s new home address. I just moved to Chicago 3 weeks ago and I already bumped into him at a concert. We went to see Urge Overkill at the Double Door the other night and he was there. He is a very cool guy. My friend and I got to chat with him for a bit. But he does value his space!

I first got interested in music because i heard Today on the radio. The pumpkins have always been my favorite group and my heart broke the day I got the news they were done. Billy Corgan kicks ass and the band would not have been if not for him. Corgan is The Smashing Pumpkins!!

I wish I can say so much to Billy. He is such a musical Genious, my friends and I say so all the time. His music is just so inspirational and it makes me want to get up and do something- either that or sit and listen to some more! I wish I can tell him so much, but i?m sure he?s busy enough with his new solo album and everything else he is doing- not to mention a million other people trying to e-mail him. He?s so great, and i?m sure he knows it. God bless Billy Corgan
Oh- and for those of you wanting to know more of what Billy is recently up to, visity www.billycorgan.com
its great!
